Obesity is called as sthulta or medorog. It is a condition in which there is excessive deposition of fats in body. Fat is deposited due to excessive intake of kapha and medo vardhak (fat increasing) products that causes increase in medo dhatus, which in turn causes blockage of strotas. Due to blockage of strotas, dhatus are deprived of their nourishment and vata also gets increased. Due to this increased vata, it increases appetite that leads to tendency of overeating. This increased diet leads to deposition of medo (fats) in body and weakness of dhatus due to which decrease in strength and weakness is felt.
